Mom’s Choice Award

The Mom’s Choice Awards named Entangled In Freedom: A Civil War Story by Ann DeWitt and Kevin M. Weeks among the best in family-friendly media, products and services for young adult historical fiction. 

The Mom’s Choice Awards (MCA) is an awards program that recognizes authors, inventors, companies, parents and others.  MCA judges are bound by a strict code of ethics which ensures a propriety methodology in which entries are scored on a number of elements including production quality, design, educational value, entertainment value, originality, appeal and cost.  The end result is a list of the best in family-friendly media, products and services that parents and educators can feel confident in using.

Bonnie Blue Society Award

Ann DeWitt and Kevin M. Weeks received membership in the Honorary Bonnie Blue Society for perpetuating the memory of the Confederate Soldier in literary form. New members receive a certificate and pin for scholarly research and published literature. Entangled In Freedom: A Civil War Story is now cataloged in the Major General William D. McCain Library at SCV International Headquarters in Columbia, Tennessee.

Indie Book Award

Entangled In Freedom: A Civil War Story was named a Finalist in the African American category of the 2011 Next Generation Indie Book Awards.  The Next Generation Indie Book Awards is the largest Not-for-Profit book awards program for indie authors and independent publishers.
